Most of the time, I just dabble at my keyboard and see what catches my ear. If I do it enough, the law of averages kicks in and I stumble across something that kinda works - or at least is worthy of more attention. That’s where this tune started. The hook that grabbed me first in Starlight is the bit you can hear at the start, but the part I *love* is the little chord change at the end of the measure. I’ve no idea what’s happening musical theory-wise, but it’s like a little shift down. Makes me smile.

Once I had that, the rest of the song grew around it. I’m a bit of a sucker for a bit of pitch bend at the end of a synth lead line as well…
