Early in 2020, Letters From Mouse, a gentleman of the first water, asked for artists to submit a session for his radio sow on Mad Wasp Radio.

I got in touch and was delighted that he was interested in having a gribbles session on the show.

My initial thought was to record it live - like a 'proper' session. LfM wasn't mandating that it had to be a live session, but I wanted to do it 'right'.

Well, after a few interesting nights running with that, I figured I wasn't quite ready for a 20-30 minute live odyssey, so went with a Plan B of a mix of a couple of my tunes with maybe some live interludes overdubbed, but generally mix things up and drop some interesting bits and bobs in.

And that's what happened, really. I chose Existence and Requiem as my core tracks, and chopped them about a bit so I could fire scenes off rather than just using the original mix. I wanted the whole thing to flow, so recorded a few sort of 'bridging' tunes/backing atmospheres, then tweaked so they overlapped nicely and we avoided any jarring jumps between tunes - I *think* I broadly got away with that ;-)

The session was fantastically received on the night. I'm very grateful to everyone who commented on twitter during the show, and am pleased to make this available now for others to hear. Do let me know if you like it.

Through the Magic Window was broadcast on Mad Wasp Radio every Sunday night at 9pm, and repeated on Mondays at 2pm and Fridays at 12pm - madwaspradio.com - but it now has a home at themagicwindow.net where you can keep up with current news & shows, and find links to previous shows - highly recommended...
